Steinhatchee is a golf cart friendly community. For the past two years the Steinhatchee River Chamber has raffled a golf cart to fund the fireworks show. Tickets were $5 ea. This year's winning ticket was number 1345 and was won by Jan Davis of Steinhatchee. Mrs. Davis was so excited that she could not even drive the cart home. Her husband had the honor of taking her home in her new cart. A big thank you to everyone who purchased tickets and helped in putting on the best fireworks display in the area. We had two bus loads of folks from Advent Christian Village assisted living center in Dowling Park who traveled over to enjoy the show.
2011 fireworks were as good as ever. A big thank you to Larry & Paula Fritcher, Dick Jackson, Ed Wessels, Michael Chapman and Wesley Wells. This year we had music during the extravaganza thanks to Mardee White and of course everyone had a great time with the Mullet Fling. Winner in the Men's category was Brad Rulon of Columbus, GA with a distance of 165 feet; Women's category was Anna Patterson of Steinhatchee who flung that fish a whopping 114 feet (way to go Anna) and the Kid's 12 & Under was Trace of Steinhatchee whose distance was 70 feet (future pro ball player?). Our "Dead Ringer" was William Whitesell whose perfect aim tossed the mullet 50' into a barrel and won him $100 which was donated back to the Chamber. Thank you William. Great job and great fun!
